Summaries of the first three acts in Much Ado About Nothing

Act 1

In this act Leanato the governor of Messina got a letter from the messenger informing him that Don Pedro the Prince of Arragon and his brother Don John, Benedick a young lord of Padua, and Claudio a young lord of Florence are coming to visit them, and they are hoping to stay for at least a month. In addition, Beatrice, Leanato niece began to express to her uncle and the messenger about Benedick and the kind of man he was. She later stated that she would never fall in love and marry a man. After, the arrival of the men, Claudio began to express his feeling to Benedick about he loved Hero Leanato daughter, but Benedick tried to influence him not to fall in love. Benedick even told him that he would never marry because he loved none. “… I had not a hard heart, for truly I loved none.” Additionally, after Do Pedro and Leanato found out that Claudio loved Hero, they made plans of they can get Hero to love Claudio so they can become husband and wife. This will be done by Don Pedro attending a mask party that they were all attending where Don Pedro acted as Claudio and try to woo Hero’s heart to Claudio. Also, Don John found out about the marriage by Barachio, follower of Don John and he seemed very displeasing by the news.

Act 2

This act begins with Leanato talking to Beatrice trying to convince her that marrying is not a bad thing. He also praised that one day he will find her a wonderful husband. However, Don John the bastard tried to mess up the marriage and told Claudio that he heard Don Pedro his brother confessing to Hero that he loved her although he knew that Claudio was in love with her. After hearing that Claudio became jealous and upset with Don Pedro he later confessed the news to Benedick where Benedick then told Don Pedro about what Claudio heard. Don Pedro later convinced Claudio that the news was false. Furthermore, Leanato informed his daughter Hero that he wants her to help them get Beatrice and Benedick together and she agreed to do so. On the other hand, Don John was planning along with Barachio how to deceive the marriage of Hero and Count Claudio. He also agreed to pay Barachio a thousand ducats if he agreed to do the plan. In addition, Benedick overheard Don Pedro and Claudio talking about how Beatrice loved him and what they are going to do to inform him of the message. They were also shocked that Benedick was actually in love and they wanted to know how Benedick was going to react.
As a result of all of that, they found out that Beatrice and Benedick was in love with each other and did not know how to say or express it.

Act 3

In this scene, Hero and Ursula made plans of how to inform Beatrice about the credits of Benedick. Afterwards, the men were planning the events set for Hero and Claudio’s wedding.  Also this is where Claudio and Don Pedro thought that Benedick was in love. In addition, Dogberry and Verges both had very interesting scenes, they were both having a conversation about what they were going to do pertaining to the wedding and the plan for the next day. Furthermore, Borachio confessed the plan that Don Pedro and he had in mind to the watchman. Being very talkative, he told him that he carried Claudio and Leonato to Hero’s window and they saw Margaret, who they thought was Hero with another man. Eventually, that got Claudio upset and he wanted to refrain from marrying Hero the next day. Also, Leonato, her father was disappointed to know that his daughter would do that the day before her own wedding. On the other hand, Hero along with Margaret, Ursula and Beatrice were all getting ready for the wedding.

Questions on Much Ado About Nothing

What does Don Pedro vows to do?

Don Pedro who is the prince of Arragon vowed to overthrow his brother. He also wanted to ruin Don Pedro and Claudio's plan to gain Hero's love.

2. Who is Claudio in love with?

Claudio is in love with Hero the daughter of Leanato.

3. What are the prospectives about love by Beatrice and Benedict?

The prospective about love by both characters was in fact that they dont believe in love. Beatrice and Benedict argued back and forth about thier opinions about love and from my opinion I think they have feelings for each other. The reason that brought me to say that they both don't believe in love is by the comment made by both characters. For example, when Benedict said in act one scene that "truly i love none." and when Beatrice said "  I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow, than a man swear he loves me."

4. What is the plan executed by Don Pedro?

The plan executed by Don Pedro was that he is going to pretend to be Claudio who is in love with Hero. Don Pedro would be disguise as Claudio and tell Hero all about his love for her so that she can then create love for him and at the end she will belong to him.

William Shakespeare's Biography

William Shakespeare was baptised on the 26th April,1564 and died on the 26 th April, 1616. His actual birthdate remains unknown, but is traditionally observed on 23 April, St George's Day. He was the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, he was the third child of eight and the eldest surviving son. Shakespeare was born and raise in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. He was an English peot and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon".
Although no attendance records for the period survive, most biographers agree that Shakespeare probably was educated at the King's VI New School in Stratford from the age of seven (7) in 1571, about a quarter-mile from his home and he left school at the age of fourteen (14) in 1578.  Grammar schools varied in quality during the Elizabethan era, but the curriculum was dictated by law throughout England, and the school would have provided an intensive education in Latin grammar and the classics.
His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright artist. Shakespeare was  raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613.
In addition, Shakespeare produced most of his known work between 1589 and 1613. His early plays were mainly comedies and histories, genres he raised to the peak of sophistication and artistry by the end of the 16th century. He then wrote mainly tragedies until about 1608, including Hamlet, King Lear, and Macbeth, considered some of the finest works in the English language. Shakespeare also wrote some plays which includes the Merchant of Venice, The Count of Monte Cristo and the Six Tales of Shakespeare etc. In his last phase, he wrote tragicomedies, also known as romances, and collaborated with other playwrights.
According to Answers.com William Shakespeare is known as the best because of his works, especially his plays and sonnets. He is also known for his technique. One cool thing that he did was write in iambic pentameter. Iambic pentameter basically means that each line has 10 syllables. These ten syllables would go in a pattern of stressed, unstressed, stressed, unstreseed, and so forth.
Many of his plays were published in editions of varying quality and accuracy during his lifetime.
Shakespeare was a respected poet and playwright in his own day, but his reputation did not rise to its present heights until the 19th century. The Romantics, in particular, acclaimed Shakespeare's genius. In the 20th century, his work was repeatedly adopted and rediscovered by new movements in scholarship and performance. His plays remain highly popular today and are constantly studied, performed and reinterpreted in diverse cultural and political contexts throughout the world.
Furthermore, Elizabethan era was a time associated with Queen Elizabeth I's reign (1558–1603) and is often considered to be the golden age in English history. It was the height of the English Renaissance and saw the flowering of English poetry, music and literature. This was also the time during which Elizabethan theatre flourished, and William Shakespeare and many others composed plays that broke free of England's past style of plays and theatre. It was an age of exploration and expansion abroad, while back at home, the Protestant Reformation became more acceptable to the people, most certainly after the Spanish Armada was repulsed. It was also the end of the period when England was a separate realm before its royal union with Scotland.
The theatre most often associated with William Shakespeare is the The Globe Theatre, which opened in 1599 in Southwark, London. It was the first theatre built by actors, and was roughly circular in shape with an open roof, which led to it's nickname "The Wooden O."
The original Globe burned down in 1613, following an accident with on-stage pyrotechnics, and was rebuilt in 1614. It was finally closed down in 1642, and demolished in 1644 to make way for housing.

  Dear Editor,
I am a concern citizen who observed the brutal beating of John Power also known as Brother Man which occured on High street.
This incident took place because of this man beliefs, behaviour and his rastafarianism. The man was beaten intensively and received serious injuries. Brother man begged for peace and love but it was ignored and he was continually beaten.
This act was sad because others stood aside and watched brother man while he was beaten, while a woman tried to saved him but she got beaten as well.In fact, I believe that no one should be beaten because of their culture and beliefs, this man was a innocent man and a peace to the dead. Brother man is a good citizen in the country, he helped everyone when they were in need of help in any way passible.
In my opinion, Rastafarianisms perceived very negatively in the incidedent because brother man was a rasta, some members in the crowd were encouraging the criminals to beat him they even shouted negative words towards him because of the dislike they had for rastafarianism. I believe that rastas are not the only people that rape and chop up man, these incidents are done by other people as well. It is unfair to judge someone by their beliefs and how they look.

Yours Sincerely,
Delia Evans.
